We are Respiratory Education UK
Respiratory Education UK's programmes are developed in conjunction with key stakeholders and delivered by a team of staff who are experts in the respiratory field. They are instrumental in driving forward respiratory practice and contribute to expanding the field of knowledge in this area through publications, presentations and the development of national and local guidelines. They act on advisory panels, steering and working groups and have recently published a book relating to COPD. They are involved in national and local research initiatives that will support the body of knowledge underpinning respiratory practice.
Ongoing external benchmarking continues to highlight the quality of our provision and suggests that our standards are comparable, if not higher, than other academic programmes nationally. REUK support approximately 3,000 students annually to undertake respiratory related development and our cohorts consistently achieve results that are better than the national average in terms of 10% of BSc (Hons) students achieving First Class Honours degrees each year.
Our provision is multi professional and is designed to support the development of a range of practitioners including for example, nursery staff, pharmacists, ambulance personnel, respiratory physiologists and physiotherapists as well as medical and nursing staff. Such an approach enables us to support team working and facilitates the development and dissemination of "best practice". Utilising blended and distance learning, REUK are able to maximise opportunities for individuals to access academic study. The comprehensive, evidence based course materials supported by structured study events and electronic access, allow individuals to study at their own pace and at geographical locations suitable to meet their needs thus widening participation.
Academic staff within the organisation have a wealth of expertise relating to specific aspects of respiratory disease management. They are qualified professionals from across the health sector and include nurses, medical staff, physiologists and physiotherapists.
