This unique programme has been designed in liaison with representatives from across the professions and has been developed to meet the personal & professional needs of a range of practitioners who specialise in respiratory disease management.
With three discrete exit awards and a range of respiratory related modules, the programme enables practitioners to negotiate a bespoke pathway that has relevance to the developmental needs associated with their profession. For example:
· For Registrars, access to the programme can provide an appropriate clinically based alternative to research.
· For Nurses and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), the programme is mapped against the 10 key roles for nurses and AHPs and facilitates the advancement of practice.
· GPs with a special interest may use the programme in a variety of ways in order to enhance their knowledge relating to the treatment and management of patients with respiratory diseases/disorders.
Modules may also be accessed on a stand alone or associate student basis
Utilising blended learning, this part time programme uses CD based course materials complemented by classroom based and on line structured study events to enrich the learning experience.
To access the programme, or modules within it, students should at least have a lower second class honours degree in a health related subject. A formal application form is also required from potential students to gain access to the course.
However, individuals who do not meet the entry criteria may be able to make a claim for equivalency via the AP(E)L process. Individuals may also be able to make a claim for exemption for up to one third of their chosen programme.
Practitioners applying for the programme should be prepared to reflect upon and challenge their own practice, as appropriate, within the period of study.
