Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Module Code: HEA3084

Venue: Respiratory Education UK, Aintree
Cost: £ 580

Introduction
This module aims to provide healthcare workers with the knowledge and skills to have an in-depth understanding of, and deliver a pulmonary rehabilitation programme.  This module will enable learners to develop approaches to assessment, planning and delivery of an individualised programme of care, underpinned by current evidence care
Module Format
This module is run on a blended learning basis supported by a comprehensive course pack and four structured study days over 20 weeks, which will include tutorials, online and classroom-based workshops and discussions, ensuring that theory and practice are integrated
Aims
This module will enable healthcare professionals to:
  • Critically evaluate the evidence upon which pulmonary rehabilitation programmes are based, and how this influences existing practice for the multi-disciplinary team
  • Critically analyse the assessment tools available, which identify the health needs of individuals with chronic respiratory impairment.  Consider their use in light of the changing knowledge and skills required by the clinician in their specific area of practice
  • Critically examine and explore the various modalities, components and duration of exercise training that may contribute to a pulmonary rehabilitation programme, appraising their various applications in the context of programme demographics, facilities and resources available
  • Critically evaluate the strategies which facilitate patient well-being in relation to the psychosocial issues related to chronic respiratory disease
  • Critically explore legal, ethical, moral and financial issues which impact upon the provision of pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Critically analyse current multi-disciplinary approaches to delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation programmes and consider how local need and commissioning of services may influence the programme structure and resources necessary
