Introduction
This BSc module examines the problem asthma presents to many people in the UK today. Focusing on the morbidity of this condition and the level of poor control, many patients' experience will help raise students' awareness of what can be done to improve the lives of most asthma sufferers. Factors relevant to poor control of asthma will be examined in detail and strategies to overcome these considered
Module Format
This module is run on a blended learning basis supported by a comprehensive course pack and three structured study days over 20 weeks, which will include tutorials, online and classroom discussion and group work, ensuring that theory and practice are integrated
Aims
This module will enable healthcare professionals to:

Critically appraise the contributory factors to asthma morbidity within the UK

Critically analyse the issues of intentional and non-intentional non-adherence in asthma management

Discuss strategies for increasing adherence and analyse the potential effectiveness of these

Critically discuss pharmacological, trigger avoidance, self management and other aspects of management and asthma
