Introduction
This module enables the students to develop the skills of analytical enquiry to underpin their practice of clinically effective care
Additionally the module facilitates the development of analytical skills to enable the closer linking of theory and practice. Furthermore, this module encompasses the development of skills of research and development to ensure the integration of evidence based practice into the clinical area
Module Format
This module is run on a blended learning basis supported by a comprehensive course pack and two structured study days over 20 weeks. An emphasis will be on a student-centred approach to learning and utilising a problem solving approach to help foster both lifelong and transferable learning skills. The module will include lectures, small group work, online and classroom discussions which will assist in developing skills of analysis and theoretical application to the clinical area

Identify and provide a rationale for the selection of an appropriate practice based issue, which would benefit from being researched

Comprehensive course materials are provided to students. Tutorial time is set aside to support students, with specialist staff always available by either phone, e-mail and on-line. This module can be studied as an independent unit of study or as a core module towards the Diploma in Respiratory Practice. To access this module, you would be expected to have had at least one year post registration experience and should be working with or involved in the care of patients with respiratory conditions
Successful completion results in 20 academic credits at diploma level
