Question:  Will you be running courses in my area?
Answer:  Courses are available at Regional & Satellite centres throughout the UK. Please see Regional Centres for details of courses in your area.


Question:  What is level, 5, 6 and 7?
Answer:  Level 5 – Diploma level (Dip), Level 6 – Degree (BSc), Level 7 – Masters (MSc).


Question:  Have I enough credits to study level 5, 6 or 7?
Answer:  You must have 120 credits at level 4 i.e. RGN qualified, for entry onto the Diploma programme. A Diploma (120 credits) for access onto the Degree programme. Finally, you should normally have a Degree (120 credits) for entry onto the Masters Programme or show that you are able to study at Masters level.


Question:  Can I use credits gained elsewhere?
Answer:  It is possible to (AP(E)L) (Application for Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) credits/experience gained previously into the Programme. Please contact REUK for further details


Question:  Is this qualification recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council?
Answer:  No, it is an academic rather than a professionally recognised qualification.


Question:  Is there sponsorship available?
Answer:  Yes, a number of pharmaceutical companies have funding available. Please contact your local Pharmaceutical representatives for further information. REUK can also advise on other options such as gaining funding from employers and payment options for self funded students


Question:  How am I assessed?
Answer:  Pulmonary Pharmacotherapy at level 6 and Interpretation of Respiratory Investigations at level 7 are currently the only modules with a written examination. The Spirometry modules at level 5 and 6 both have an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) as part of the assessment.


Question:  What tutor support will I receive?
Answer:  A tutor is available by telephone every Monday for feedback, help and advice. However, your tutor may be available at other times during the week. Questions and essay plans etc may be e-mailed, posted or faxed. Appointments can also be arranged if required.


Question:  Will my tutors be clinicians or academics?
Answer:  Modular/programme tutors can come from various backgrounds such as nursing and physiotherapy.


Question:  What extra resources can I access?
Answer:  You may access IT facilities at the Aintree or Ormskirk campus. As a Distance Learner you have access to Infozone. It allows access to many resources and services that would normally only be from one of the Learning Resource Centres. Services include postal loans, access to a wealth of electronic resources, help and guidance from a specialist off-campus support team and access to other libraries.


Question:  Where can I stay?
Answer:  There is a range of hotels in close vicinity to REUK, along with those based in the city centre a few miles away. Go to the 'where are we?' pages for useful links.


Question:  My course is going to be funded, do I still need to pay a deposit?
Answer:  No, if funding has been secured you will need to complete the Invoice section of our Application Form with all relevant details. We will then invoice the relevant department for the full cost of the course.


Question:  I am unable to attend Day 1. How do I receive my course materials on time?
Answer:  Please inform us if you are unable to attend and we will arrange for your course materials to be sent via Courier. There is an additional charge for this service starting from £15 for UK addresses.


Question:  How do I choose the best pathway for me?
Answer:  It is important to negotiate your pathway with the Programme Leader. Please contact Dave Burns for Masters, Carol Kelly for Degree and Dave Lynes for Diploma levels.


Question:  When will I get my student number?
Answer:  Usually within 2 weeks following Day 1 of the module. Please note that a Registration Number will not be issued unless you have completed a green Edge Hill University Registration Form.


Question:  I cannot access off campus support?
Answer:  Please contact Learning Services at lsdesk@edgehill.ac.uk for advice and support. This information is also given out on Day 1 of the module


Question:  Do I get a certificate of attendance?
Answer:  Yes, by becoming an Associate Student you will receive a Certificate of Attendance within 2-3 months after the course duration has finished. You must inform Karen Armstrong karen.armstrong@respiratoryeduk.com if you would like to opt for this status


Question:  Can I have more time to complete my assignment?
Answer:  If you are having difficulties completing the assessment in time, please contact the module tutor to discuss options available to you. REUK always try to aid students who need extra support through a number of medium, we encourage you to get in touch.


Question:  When will I receive my results?
Answer:  Within 10 weeks of handing in your assignment.


Question:  When will I receive my Certificate?
Answer:  Certificates are sent out after results have been ratified at the Examination Board. Examination Boards usually meet three times a year.


Question:  How do I access journals online?
Answer:  All that you will need is your Edge Hill Username and Password, found in your registration letter.To access journals and databases visit the library catalogue http://library.edgehill.ac.uk If your password doesn't work or you wish to have it re-set, please ring 01695 584286 Learning Services help line or visit edgehill.ac.uk/ls


Question:  I am disabled, is there any extra support?
Answer:  Students can obtain additional funds to support their individual needs and the additional costs of studying. Contact the Inclusion Team, based in the Student Information Centre on the Ormskirk Campus (01695 584190) or Learning Services (01695 58 4190/58 4372).

Question:  I have dyslexia, is there any extra support?
Answer:  The Edge Ahead Centre provides a full range of service for students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD, such as Dyslexia/Dyspraxia). We would encourage you to contact us about your dyslexia as there are many services that may benefit you.
